Blue Fir exists to bring exceptional porcelain to the people who use it every day — starting with tea and coffee. We work from inside Jingdezhen's kiln tradition and its contemporary studios, choosing what we present with the same care a maker gives to a single cup.
Selection is the standard we hold ourselves to.
Every object we present has been seen, handled, and judged against that standard before it reaches you. We don't publish everything Jingdezhen makes — only what we believe belongs in daily use, at its best.

Why Jingdezhen
Jingdezhen isn't a supplier city to us. It's the reason Blue Fir exists at all — a place where porcelain has been made, refined, and reinvented for over a thousand years, and where that knowledge is still alive today.

Where We're Going
Blue Fir exists to support the continued life of Jingdezhen porcelain — through careful selection, honest presentation, and long-term relationships with studios.
We're not trying to grow fast. We're trying to grow without lowering the standard — one object, one studio relationship at a time.
Founders
Renco Verhoef
Blue Fir was founded by Renco Verhoef, who has lived in Jingdezhen for fifteen years. During that time, he came to know the city not only as the historic center of Chinese porcelain, but also as a living community of studios, artists, craftspeople, tea houses, and families in which knowledge is still passed from one generation to the next.
His interest in fine tea and fine porcelain gradually became inseparable from his fascination with Jingdezhen itself: a place where exceptional craftsmanship did not emerge over a few decades, but was continuously refined for more than a thousand years.
That development cannot simply be reproduced elsewhere.
Jingdezhen was shaped by an extraordinary combination of circumstances: by the history of China, by its rivers and nearby Poyang Lake, by the mountains and Masson pine that once fueled the kilns, by kaolin from Gaoling, and by porcelain stone from areas around Jingdezhen. It was also shaped by trade, imperial commissions, and the constant exchange of knowledge between makers.
But ultimately, what made Jingdezhen truly exceptional was time.
For more than a thousand years, craftspeople tested, refined, and passed down forms, glazes, painting techniques, clay bodies, and firing methods from master to apprentice. Added to this was the symbolic importance given to Jingdezhen by the imperial court, and later the worldwide spread of its porcelain — from famous blue-and-white vessels in European country houses to collections in museums across the world.
For Renco, all these layers come together when the porcelain is actually used: with fine tea, fine coffee, and in everyday life.
That is where Blue Fir began.
Not to copy the past, but to help this living tradition continue to develop. Blue Fir wants to work with studios, artists, and craftspeople who can create exceptional new objects within this tradition — respecting what Jingdezhen has built over centuries while leaving room for what it can still become.
We believe Jingdezhen can continue to strengthen its natural position as one of the world's great centers of porcelain.
Every studio, artist, and maker who wants to contribute to that development is welcome at Blue Fir.
