A vase form whose rounded body and slender neck recall the Chinese lute, the pípá.
The Form
The pipa vase, pípá zūn (琵琶尊), takes its name from the pípá, the Chinese lute. A full, rounded body narrows into a slender neck, so that the silhouette recalls the instrument.
Its classical proportions can give even a compact vessel a presence beyond its size.
